Aspen's First Day of School

Aspen finally had her first day of school and was so excited she could hardly stand it. She has been asking me since we had Kambri when she could go to school, "Because I am big now mom." she sure is, mom had a harder time with her going to school than she did. I also think she was wondering what was up with the couple of kids completely melting down when she walked in the door. Needless to say she is already asking when she can go back! She had so much fun and is getting so big - mom wants to cry (I am sure it's all the hormones :D)

Kambri J Cowley

She is here! We are so excited that Kambri arrivevd at 12:08 am August 30, 2008. She weighed 5 pounds 14 ounces and was 17" long. We had been to the doctors office earlier that day, where the nurses all said again, "I can't belive you still haven't had that baby" since I had been having fairly regular contractions since 35 weeks and went to the hospital a week earlier with contractions every 8 minutes! So needless to say I figured we wouldn't have a baby until September 5th when they would induce me. At the doctor my contractions were every 10 minutes, but still not far enough along to go to the hospital so I told Jer lets just go to dinner. We grabbed Aspen and headed out to Los Hermanos since I figured I already had heartburn so what the heck! While we were waiting on the list my contractions got closer and I began wondering about my idea. We told the waitress we were going to a movie so they would get our food fast as my contractions continued to get closer and harder during dinner. Jer was ready to jump and run out the door just in case (I told him unless my water broke I was eating my meal! :D) On the way home we decided to stop by the hospital, it was 7 pm and they decided to "watch" me for a bit. After 1 1/2 hours I asked the nurse the plan since I was either taking Aspen to put her to bed or calling grandma, she said I have kids so I completely understand bedtime and will call the doctor. They decided to keep me since my contractions were 3 minutes apart and asked how soon I wanted an epidural? Finally, some relief! They moved me rooms while Jer took Aspen to grandma & grandpa's for the night and the anestesiaologist was on his way! We got settled about 9:30 pm with the epidural and Jer got back from dropping Aspen off. The doctor came in an broke my water and said we would just wait it out. We called Grandma Betty at 10:50 pm to let her know where we were and then it seemed like we had a baby. Fortunately the doctor was close and I was able to deliver amazingly fast. Kambri was wide eyed from the moment she got here, when she is awake she is looking everywhere checking things out. It only took us 2 days in the hospital to name her, but we wanted to make sure we had it right!

Tagged!

OK Molly - here is your tag - as bad as it is - here's my house!

Master Bathroom

The closet - Aspen was doing "work" in here earlier while I was getting ready - hence the munchkin chairs :D

Favorite room - actually only room with an almost complete feeling

Kitchen sink

Laundry room - at least all the laundry is done - maybe not put away yet

Fridge - so cooking is so over-rated in 90+ degrees 8 months prego! :D

What my little one is doing - this is why I am catching up on my blogging!

Favorite shoes - pre-pregnancy!

All I wear during the summer is flip flops anyway and especially this year!!

My dream vacation would be Maui, Hawaii with my hubby and two munchkins - just some time to hang out in the sun, sand and relax - it is so laid back there!

I am tagging - Ali Olsen, Becca Farrer, Lora Stephens and Marianne Martin! If I can do it so can all of you professional bloggers! This is a NO CLEANING tag - it is what it is!!

Thanksgiving Point

We took Aspen to Thanksgiving Point to see if she would actually ride the horses that she wouldn't last year. Needless to say we had success and she wants to go back every time we drive by there now. She had a blast feeding the animals except for the cows that kept licking her hands - she wasn't quite sure what to do about all their saliva except say EWE!

Bear Lake

I admit it - I have been a total slacker on my blog lately, but honestly I am just trying to keep cool these days! I am down to the last month of being prego and oh boy 90 degrees is hot! Oh well at least there is an end in site! Now if Aspen just liked the indoors and AC as much as I do! Anyway here are some pictures from Bear Lake - I have been a bit of a picture slacker these days too. I have to say it was a blast, the weather was nice and the kids loved the water - Aspen wants to go camping by the water again tomorrow just about every day!

Ring around the Hosies - as Aspen calls it

So is it good or bad that my daughter doesn't know what to do when I tell her to go potty in the water? She told me she had to go so I told her to go out in the water and go potty and next thing I know she is taking her clothes off! I couldn't resist taking a picture in between laughing!

Family picture - a must to prove we were there!

Stapleton Reunion 2008

So on the 5th we all headed to Canada for my Grandma Betty's (pictured swimming :D) family reunion. We go every other year to someplace new and it always is a blast! This year we were able to go to Kelowna, BC Canada. First, we flew to Spokane where we rented a mini-van (yippie!) and drove to Kelowna. We went with my mom, brother Dane and his girlfriend Anastasia, plus Jer, Aspen and all 1.5 of me! It was a blast once we finally got going - I think! First we arrived in Spokane and had one bag missing - Aspen's of course and it happened to have all her stuff plus all of our toiletries (my makeup, deodorant, toothbrush, new blowdryer, Jer's new razor!!) they told us don't worry it will be on the next flight - why don't you just wait for it. So we did - needless to say 3 hours later it did not arrive so we said forget it and decided to hit the road to Canada - they assured us they would deliver it to us and be able to get it across customs into Canada - believe it or not 1 1/2 days later it arrived!! YIPPY SKIPPY!! Needless to say Aspen had no clue it was missing and she only had the clothes on her back plus one Wal-Mart outfit to get her through! We had to spend more on deodorant and toothbrushes than we did to get her fixed up for the day! Oh well, I am just greatful the bag finally did arrive!
Once we were there we had a blast, went to the beach, did the race car's (I wished I could have, but they didn't have a 5-point harness that accomodated my ever growing belly!), played cards, Jer golfed, enjoyed the company, learned a few new mixed drinks from my Canadian cousins and just had a blast!! It amazes me how many grandkids and great-grandkids and a few great-great grandkids (I guess only 1.5 were there Aspen and my belly!) you can get to travel to get together like this - I guess it just shows how strong my grandma's family bond is, and how lucky I am to be a part of it.

Aspen and Winnie the Pooh's first airplane ride

Aspen and Charli - too cute together

Jeremy in the race car - he got the fastest time out of all the cousins and won the bet! Yep, this just confirmed his thoughts that he should have been a race car driver!

Aspen and Jer at the beach - it was perfect beach weather 85ish with a slight breeze - much better than the mid 90's I hear Utah had!

Me, Dane, Anastasia and my cousins husband Jarrett

Me and Lori - too bad they live so far away - Aspen and Charli are 2 weeks apart and we all had a blast together!

Aspen and Charli - too cute!!

Poker night at our house - sounds way too familiar!

Dane and Anastasia

Scott and his wife Danielle - yes, we did have a bit of a party and learned how to make a few new drinks - Ceasar or Paralyzer anyone?

Lori and Jarrett - what a blast they are - can't wait to see you guys next summer!

4th of July

So for the 4th we got together with our friends Skip & Michelle, their kids and Max and Ali and their kids - it was a great BBQ. Afterwards we went out and lit fireworks in the road and let the kids go crazy - it was so much fun! The boys went in and played the Wii half the night! It was a great 4th with friends!

Aspen - not so sure if she wants to get wet

Once she figured out how to go down the slip-and-slide, there was no stopping her!!

She loves it!

Aspen and Cole on the slide

I think Zoey was about to freeze to death - right after I took this picture she told me she was cold - she just looks so cute in this swimsuit I couldn't resist!
